Before you sign an agreement to buy or sell that house its worth having it reviewed by your lawyer. Unfortunately, in most cases we don't have the chance to review an agreement until after its signed and are therefore unable to advise our clients at the proper time - before they submit or accept the offer. The few minutes spent reviewing the offer with your legal advisor prior to signing it can reap benefits and provide peace of mind down the road. Although much of the Ontario Real Estate Association and Toronto Real Estate Board forms of Agreements of Purchase and Sale are indeed "standard form" there are traps for the unwary purchaser and vendor.
